The Benue Realists, a Conglomeration of professional Journalists in Kaduna at the end of its emergency meeting ratified the nomination of Governor of Benue State, Dr. George Akume, for the organization’s highest and most prestigious award.

The ratification followed a rigorous procedure by members of the Benue Realists, who undertook a painstaking tour of Benue State and ascertained the numerous achievements of Akume’s administration.

The Benue Realists has agreed to confer an award of honour on the governor for his successes in the areas of mass and grassroots emancipation, within seven years of democratic rule. They also hailed the governor for his achievements in the transport sector through the state transport outfit known as "Benue Link Nigeria Limited". The organization further explains that Benue State under the leadership of Governor George Akume has made a judicious use of the about 80 billion Naira federal allocation that accrued to the state since he assumed office. This according to the organization is noticeable in the unprecedented achievements in various strategic areas of development in the state .The meeting held in Kaduna which was chaired by Malam Musa Ajoge explained that the decision by Benue Realists to honour Dr. .Akume in a colorful ceremony was based on merit and borne out of the desire to encourage good governance in a democratic setting.
