Gov-Makarfi, Two others honoured.

For his contribution to the upliftment of education in Kaduna State, Governor Ahmed Mohamed Makarfi of Kaduna State was recently honoured by the College of Education, Gidan Waya, with the fellowship award of the college.

Two other distinguished people were also conferred with the same fellowship. They were Major-General Tanko Ayuba rtd, and Mrs Patricia Jummai Danmaida. Major-General Tanko Ayuba, a former military administrator of Kaduna State was responsible for the relocation of the College of Education from Kafanchan to its present site at Gidan Waya, while Mrs Patricia Danmaida on the other hand was a one time commissioner of education in Kaduna State, who ensured that the college got a lot of facilities and buildings which include the college library at the temporary site in Kafanchan.

Decorating the recipients of the fellowship, the Provost of the college Dr. Solomon A Yabaya said that the choice of the three distinguished people for the fellowship award was purely on merit considering their relentless service to the development of education and humanity.

 

In a speech at the occasion, Governor Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi of Kaduna State challenged stakeholders of education in the state to contribute to the development of education in the state, saying that education is the totality of the way of life of human beings in this dynamic world today".

The governor affirmed his administration’s commitment to the revamping of education at all levels in the state, and enjoined all stake holders to see to the actualization of this giant task.

Governor Makarfi promised that whenever there is the need for teachers in institutions of learning in the state to be employed he will approve the employment request without hesitation.

He enjoined both students and teachers in the state to be law abiding and loyal to constituted authorities.
