FCT: Area Council Staff Now Enjoy Monetization-NULGE Chairman
By Fayil Friday
Members of the National Union of Local Government Employee (UNLGE) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) now enjoy the monetization policy of the federal government.
Gwagwalada council chairman of the union, Alhaji Musa Dauda disclosed this in an interview with Kapital News recently in his office. He informed that the payment started in February this year following a meeting between the leadership of NULGE and the council chairman.
Alhaji Dauda applauded the chairman for the development and for the peaceful relationship that had existed between the NULGE members and the council's leadership, and pledged the determination of the union to support the management for the overall development of the local communities.
Speaking further, he pleaded with the chairman to support the union’s motorcycles loan scheme for members noting with satisfaction the successful take-off of the scheme at Abaji Area Council.
On the sale of government houses, Alhaji Dauda commended the federal government for its plan to work out mortgage facilities for the workers to pay their houses but however, suggested a reduction in the cost of the houses which he said was too high for civil servants to pay.
It would be recalled that members of NULGE in the FCT early last year threatened to embark on strike should the monetization policy was not extended to them.
