PHCN woes media for publicity

The Nasarawa State’s district office of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has solicited for the support of the media in the state towards sensitizing the public on the need to protect its installations against vandalization and the need to make prompt payment of electricity bills.
Speaking with newsmen in Keffi recently during the management meeting of the PHCN, the Business Manager Mr. Haladu Balami said that the contributions of the media was highly desirable in order to create awareness among members of the public to enable the organization realize its main objectives.
According to him, so far the PHCN has made concerted efforts to serve the people better through improved electricity supply to all parts of the state.
The Business Manager who noted with satisfaction the recent commissioning of the Keffi sub-station stated that it has contributed in stabilizing power in the Keffi town and other neigbouring areas, adding that the need to keep the tempo becomes highly imperative in order to enhance the socio-economic activities of the people.
Mr. Balami who was also full of praises to the Federal Government for its commitment towards improving the power sector expressed optimism that such efforts would go a long way in ensuring stability in the sector which he said was the major catalyst for the socio-economic advancement of the country.
On the issue of protection of the PHCN installations against vandalization, Mr. Balami assured that concerted means in collaboration with the various security agencies were being taken to ensure that all the installations were adequately protected, adding that more security patrol vehicles have been acquired to patrol the installations across the state.
According to him, it was because of the need to protect the installations that his organization was seeking the cooperation of the media to sensitize the public on the need to desist from vandalizing the PHCN installations as well as ensure prompt payment of electricity bills.
Speaking on customers affairs, the Business Manager expressed the satisfaction that presently Lafia district came first in the area of customer satisfaction adding that the development is both source of joy and challenge to the office.
He then assured that the district office would not rest on its oars in ensuring that it continues to serve the people better, adding that the meeting was convened in order to brainstorm on how best to improve power supply in the state.
