Toto - Umaisha Road Construction Flagged-Off

Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma has flagged off construction work on the 50km Toto-Umaisha road. This is coming after similar ceremonies in other parts of the State.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Akwe Doma the rehabilitation of the road was in fulfilment of his campaign promises when he visited the area. He lamented the condition of the road which he said was the result of many years of communal clashes which plagued the area in recent times.
According to Governor Akwe Doma, the construction of the road was to herald the spirit of peace and development that now prevails in the area stating that “let the road be a symbol of our determination to pursue the path of peace, solidarity and progress at all times. The road should also symbolize the consolidation of a new era of love, peace, unity and prosperity in this part of the State for the benefit of all”.
Governor Doma used the occasion to admonish the people to strive to live in peace for the benefit of all, reiterating that no development can take place in an atmosphere of mutual suspicion and rancour. He therefore called on the communities of the area to strive to live in perpetual peace and harmony with one another urging them to leave the past to history and face the future with hope, determination and promise.
Earlier on, the Commissioner for Works, Transport and Housing, Engr. Salihu Giza thanked the Governor for approving the construction of the road and stated that the road will improve communication in the area.
The road has a completion period of six months.
