Construction Work on Doma – Assakio Road Commences

The flag-off ceremonies to officially commence work on the Doma – Agyaragu; Kadarko – Giza – Keana; Agaza – Agwatashi; Obi – Assakio road has taken place in Assakio. The ceremony was performed this morning by Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Doma said the ceremony was a manifestation of the Administration’s intention to carry out and complete the first phase of its major road construction projects. He stated that Government motivation to embark on the construction of the road was because of the need to enhance the socio-economic status of the communities living in the areas. The Governor therefore challenged them to the people to explore and engage in various economic enterprises as well as sustain the existing atmosphere of good neighbourliness, peace and tranquillity.
In the same vein, the Governor called on corporate organisations and donor agencies to partner with the State Government as it commences plans for Phase II of the road construction programme.
The 88KM road cuts across Six (6) Local Governments and/or Development Areas, namely Doma, Jenkwe, Giza, Keana, Obi and Lafia-East. It is the longest road in this first phase of the road construction programme.
Speaking earlier, the State Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Engr. Salihu Giza commended Governor Akwe Doma for his leadership qualities and concern for the development of the state. He stated that this was the first time the State Government was embarking on the construction of standard gauge roads across the State.
The project is being handled by Messrs Golden Construction (Nig) Ltd.
