Kadpoly matriculates 5,098

Kaduna polytechnic last week matriculated 5098 students with an appeal to them to be law-abiding.

Speaking at the occasion, the Rector of the institute, Dr. Danjuma Ismaila Isah, also appealed to the students to ensure the prevalence of peace and harmonious co-existence in the school.

According to him Kaduna polytechnic was a highly cosmopolitan society with people from all the states of the federation and some foreign nationals with divergent tribes and religious beliefs. "We must learn to tolerate one another and live in absolute peace for the institution to move forward."

Dr. Danjuma who spoke through the Deputy Rector, Hajia Rahila Mohammed, warned that any students who got involved in anti-social activities such as examination malpractice and cultism would be made to face the wrath of the law.

He then advised the students to liaise with the office of the Dean, Student Affairs and study the list of approved associations in the polytechnic before joining any of them

Dr. Danjuma also appealed to the new students to maintain decorum on their mode of dressing, saying that they are advised to dress decently in consonance with approved cultural and religious teachings.

He told the students that Kaduna polytechnic had put in place a committee on dress code and it had since formulated a code of dressing.

On students unionism, the rector said the institute would not tolerate any form of brigandage and indiscipline under the guise of students union, explaining that management of Kaduna polytechnic is making all arrangements for the smooth conduct of transition to another democratic students union, "you are therefore advised to conduct yourselves in most decent manner". He stated.

In a related development, the Tudun Wada – Kaduna community has called on Kaduna polytechnic to set-up skills development centre in the area.

Tudun Wada community made the call through their district head, the Zannan Zazzau, Alhaji Sa’idu Alkali, during a courtesy call on the management of Kaduna polytechnic.

According to him, setting up of the skills development centre would enable the youths to be trained in motor mechanic work, carpentry, plumbing, welding, building and electrical work, etc.

Alhaji Sa’idu then congratulated Kaduna polytechnic on its recent elevation to university and called on the Federal Government to allocate more funds to the school to enable it purchase more equipment to meet accreditation of its programmes.

The district head appealed to the Federal Government to appoint the present rector of Kaduna polytechnic to man the university considering his past records.

In his welcome address, the Rector, Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Danjuma Ismaila Isah commended Tudun Wada Community for the special visit to the institutions.

He described the visit as impressive because it would ensure cordial relationship between Kaduna Polytechnic and Tudun Wada Community.

Dr. Danjuma assured Tudun Wada Community that all their suggestions and requests would be forwarded to Kaduna Polytechnic is Governing Council for implementation.
