By Rabi’u Dogara Omaku

A gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe (Garkuwan Doma) has commended the laudable efforts of Governor Abdullahi Adamu for transforming the state within a short period of time.

Alhaji Akwe, at the kick-off of his campaign in the state capital, Lafia, described the state governor as a gem who performed above expectation, therefore he should be supported to attain the position of president in 2007.

"Abdullahi Adamu-led administration had made giant strides in the areas of education, health and rural development among others".

Speaking at the occasion, an economist and a university don in the department of economics, University of Jos, Dr. Rabo Dakari, described Aliyu Akwe as a gentleman and dedicated citizen, adding that he is the only candidate who will bring about wholistic development, if given the mantle of leadership of the state.

Also speaking, Senator Umar Suleiman Azores, described Aliyu Doma as the founding father of Nasarawa State because, according to him, he is among those that struggle for the realization of what is Nasarawa State today, and urged people of Nasarawa State to support the candidacy of the Garkuwan Doma.

Alhaji Halilu Bala Usman, who graced the occasion, however, called on the teeming supporters not to sell their right and vote, but to use it wisely.

Aliyu Doma in his speech, urged his supporters to shun politics of bitterness and called on his opponents to avoid politics of condemnation, for peace to reign in the state.
