By Abubakar Sani

The Assistant Head of the Jikwayi Health Centre, Mrs. Mary Ibrahim has told Kapital News that the response of mothers to the on-going immunization exercise has been very encouraging.

The four-day immunization plus days which kicked off on Tuesday November 21st, is expected to end on Friday 24th. During the period, children between the ages 0-59 months and pregnant mothers are expected to be given doses of OPV, measles, vitamin A and TT vaccines.

Mrs. Ibrahim attributed the high turn out for the exercise to regular health talks organized by the health centre for nursing and expectant mothers which has enabled them to appropriate the importance of getting their children immunized.

She called on mothers whose children are yet to be immunized to come for it particularly for measles because according to her, the centre recently recorded cases of measles outbreak.

She gave the assurance that the centre has enough vaccines on ground for the four-day period.

Also speaking, one of the supervisor in charge of the exercise Mr. Nathaniel Okpanachi confirmed that the turn out has been very high adding that most parents have expressed gratitude to the government for the immunization exercise.
