18 consensus PDP candidates emerge in Kebbi

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamafara State has vowed to wrest power from the All Nigeria Peoples Party come 2007.
The state chairman of the party, Alhaji Sama’ila, Garkuwan Maradun made the remark at a press briefing last week stressing that the PDP has done its homework in the state and endeared itself to the electorate.
Speaking on the ongoing voters registration, he said, "I am not happy with the way the slow nature of this registration, I think it is very slow, and it is unfortunate". He expressed hope that INEC would improve.
He said, "the PDP has good plans on the ground, in line with the yearning and inspirations of the people if Zamfara.
If people are aware of their own responsibility of choosing a government, we stand a better chance to be elected".
He alleged that the last bye-election in Maradun II, for a vacant seat in the State House of Assembly was rigged in favour of the ruling All Nigerian Peoples Party. "We knew what happened. It is an eye opener, we have learnt a lesson," he said.
He then called on the people to shun money politics and vote only credible and selfless candidates in subsequent elections.
He also enjoined the people in the state to participate enmass in the on-going revalidation of voters register so as to enable them choose their leaders in the forthcoming elections.
