2007: Dep. Gov Maku on campaign tour

Nasarawa State deputy governor Mr. Labaran Maku has commended the people of Umaisha town and Toto local governmentin general for the relative peace that has prevailed in the area just as he reiterated his desire to consolidate on all the laudable achievement of Governor Abdullahi Adamu if elected governor in 2007.

Mr. Maku who is aspiring for the governor seat under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stated this while paying homage to the Ohimoge Opanda Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, in his palace in Umaisha as part of his campaign programme around the state.

He commended the effort of the royal farther in ensuring lasting peace in the area adding that it is noteworthy to see the people united as one and putting the events of the past behind them so that they can contribute their quota towards the growth and development of their area and the state in general.

The deputy governor who was received by tumultuous crowd of supporters and PDP faithfuls at the Toto border said he was overwhelmed by the support and show of solidarity exhibited by the people of Toto whom he describe as very hardworking and enterprising.

He promised to continue with the developmental state of the present Government and noted that with his long working experience under the present administration, he said he was in the best position to meet the needs of the people.

In his response the Ohimege Opanda, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi thanked the deputy governor for deeming it fit to wish him and his people, describing the deputy governor as very loyal and dedicated to his duties.

He urged the deputy governor to continue to be loyal and dedicated as these attributes have their rewards and wished him the best in his endeavour.

Also as part of his campaign tour, the deputy governor was in Mararra Udege, the headquaters of Udege development area where he address PDP elders and later commission a campaign office donated to him by a personal friend in the area.

In Loko the heaquarters of Loko development area, he assured the people that the grassroot would, as in the present government, remain his priority and promised that all the request made by the people would be adequately tabled.

While at the palace of sarkin Loko Alhaji Ahmed Umar, the deputy governor said he went to seek his royal blessing and the support of the people of the area in his quest to occupy the the number one seat come may 2007.

In all the places visited, the deputy governor was received by the local government chairmen.In Gadaboke Development Area the people waited for the August visitor till late in the evening led by Mr. Madaki Ada Goje the chairman of the council who later led him to residence of the hom Babye to pay his respect.

Mr. Maku was also at the PDPsecretariat of Nasarawa Local Government where he told them he was in the race to ensure continuity of the good programme and policies of the present administration.

The campaign tour of the state deputy governor is expected to come to an end on December 4.
