Nasarawa guber race: Tanko Baba kicks-off campaing

A PDP gubernatorial aspirant in Nasarawa State, Engineer Tanko Baba has promised to provide qualitative and functional education to the people of the state when voted into office in 2007.

Addressing journalists at a press conference, which took place at the press centre Lafia to mark the commencement of his electioneering campaign, Engineer Tanko Baba said the Nasarawa State University Keffi, the state polytechnic Lafia, and the state college of Agriculture, Lafia would be adequately funded by his administration.

He stated that his administration would be effective and efficient, pointing out that government activities would be transparent and accountable for every Kobo earned or spent.

According to him, there would be deliberate policy of economic empowerment for the citizens of the state to reduce poverty to minimum level, adding that the state agricultural out fit would be overhauled to encourage farmers to produce enough food at affordable price.

He said, if voted into office in 2007, he would ensure that, he provides functional Health care across the state beginning from June/July 2007, and adequate water supply in the whole state.

The governorship aspirant assured that he would embark on the rehabilitation of roads and construction of new ones across the state, in addition to a viable housing scheme.

Engineer Tanko Baba further said he would improve on the supply of electricity to people of the state, while agro-allied industries would be established in the state for economic growth and employment.

Speaking on the traditional institution, he said it would be recognized and respected, just as he said he would create more local government councils if there is the need to do so, as according to him, it would bring government closer to the people
