NNPC seeks IG’s support on pipeline vandalisation
The Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Engnr. Fusho Kupolokun has solicited for the assistance of the Police in stemming the menace of pipeline vandalism in the country.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the new police helmsman Mr Mike Okiro in Abuja, the GMD described Okiro’s appointment as the Acting Inspector General of Police as well deserved given his excellent record in service.
Kupolokun noted that the Ag. IGP has a good track record of success in operations and expressed hope that he would use his wealth of experience to assist the corporation in curbing pipeline vandalism in the country.
He said "I am delighted to convey to you, our warm congratulations on your appointment to the exalted position of the IGP. The NNPC looks forward to a more cordial relationship with the police especially in the area of stemming pipeline vandalism".
He added "we have worked together over the years and we have enjoyed your cooperation in policing our Right of way across the country, but there is room for improvement.
Kupolokun who was represented by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Dr Levi Ajuonuma noted that the police deserved positive contributions from all and sundry in view of its role in protecting lives and property in the country.
He also gave the assurance that NNPC would do everything within its powers to support the police in the discharge of its duties.
Earlier, the Ag. IGP thanked the GMD and the entire NNPC management for the gesture and pledged continued support of the police in tackling the menace of pipeline vandalism.
He also canvassed for assistance from the corporation in the area of logistics to effectively protect the nation’s assets.
