Be up and doing craft - makers advised

Craft-makers in Nasarawa State have been called upon to be up and doing so that they could get much needed assistance from the new National Craft Council, introduced in the country.
The call was made by the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Comrade Abdullahi Makeri. In a press statement, signed by the information officer of the ministry, Mallam Mohammad Ohitoto, comrade Makeri urged, craft-men in the state to form craft cooperative societies under the guidance of the state ministry of culture and tourism. According to him the culture and tourism meeting held at Benin City, Edo State, resolved that all local government councils in the country are to establish tourism committee.
The meeting he said, also agreed that the forth coming National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST), should be improved upon, so as to meet international standards for effective tourism development.
Comrade Makeri added that the meeting also resolved to support the national project on the production and usage of Nigerian fabrics for national identity, and economic self-reliance.
The commissioner then advised indigenes of Nasarawa State, particularly those who are physically challenged, and have unique products and talents to exibit to the world to warm up for the forthcoming NAFEST.
