Hooliganism is not in the interest of sports development and it scares people from watching football and others sports. No administrator or sport loving party would love to encourage hooliganism.

The commissioner of youth and sports, Nasarawa State, Mr. Silas Agara, stated this while answering questions from our sports correspondent in his office penultimate week.

Mr. Agara said he won’t encourage nor entertain hooliganism adding that hooliganism, should be avoided in all its ramifications in Nasarawa state.

He said: anything that will distract sporting activities should be avoided. If we must promote sport, we must be able to curtail hooliganism.

The sports loving commissioner disclosed that in order to promote sports in the state, the government had committed huge amount to the provision of sporting facilities so that budden talents can have standard facilities to train and compete like their other counterparts all over the world.

Agara said that work at the Lafia township stadium has reached the concluding stage and promised that matches would be played at the stadium during the next footballing season. It would be recalled that the Nasarawa United Football Club owned by the state government, recently earned promotion to the premier league and bigger teams from all over the country will start coming to Nasarawa State to clash with the state team.
