Governor Doma Flags Off Construction Work on Gitata-Panda-Karu Road

Construction work on the Gitata – Panda – Karu road recently awarded by the Administration of Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma has commenced. This followed the official flagging off of work on the road by the Governor on Saturday, March 5, 2008.

Speaking during the flagging-off ceremony, Governor Doma said the ceremonies where being undertaken pursuant to the commitment of the Administration to ensure that all road projects planned for phase 1 of the road development programme of the State take off without delay.

Governor Akwe Doma who lamented the situation of the road said that the construction of the road had suffered several set backs since the project was conceived and started 25 years ago. The Administration he continued, is determined to leave no stone unturned in ensuring the execution of the road to a logical conclusion. He assured the communities in the area that they will have a motorable road within the next 18 months.

Contract for the 64km road was awarded to Messrs Ceezali Nig. Ltd. at the cost of Three Billion, Seven Hundred Million, Seven Hundred and Sixty-one Thousand, Eight Hundred and One Naira (N3,700,761,801.00).

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the construction company promised to build two clinics at Gitata and Panda as part of their community relations programme.
