Nasarawa State Budgets N53b for Fiscal Year 2007

Governor Akwe Doma of Nasarawa State has unveiled the appropriation plan for fiscal year 2008. Presenting the budget in an address to the House in Lafia today, Governor Akwe Doma said the budget will boldly and vigorously explore new opportunites for the people of Nasarawa State in the quest for socio-economic transformation.
In the words of the Governor, the budget was a first step mechanism for the realisation of his pledge to provide the necessary spring board for a vaiable political system, economic development and social transformation.
Tagged, Budget of Transformation, the appropriation bill makes provision for a total expenditure of N53,658,191,672.00. Out of this sum, capital expenditure amounted to N32,039,861,293.00 (59.7%) while N21,168,330,062.00 (40.3%) was earmarked for recurrent expenditure.
Major areas of expenditure include:- works and housing N10.72b; Education N8.7b and commerce and indusries N4.32b.
The House will now consider the bill for passage into law.
