Development Areas Will Not Hold Elections
Tuesday, November 06, 2007

The Nasarawa State Government has declared that elections would not be conducted in the 16 Development Areas of the state.

This assertion was made by the Governor of the State, Aliyu Akwe Doma, while addressing PDP faithful in Lafia, the State Capital. He said the elections will only hold in the 13 constitutionally recognised local government areas of the state.

It would be recalled that 16 local governments (late downgraded to development areas) were created by the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Adamu.

Henceforth the development areas will be supervised by the elected chairman of the local government areas from which they were created. The status of the development areas will be determined after the review of the constitution by the national assembly.
