Eid-el-Fitr Message
Thursday, October 11, 2007
As the Muslim Ummah marks the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr on the 1st day of Shawwal 1428AH (equivalent to 11th October 2007), I congratulate the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Chapter of the Jamaatu'ul Nasiril Islam and Emir of Lafia, Alhaji (Dr.) Isa Mustapha Agwai I; all Muslim leaders; the Ulamahs and the entire Muslim faithful in Nasarawa State and indeed, Nigeria as a whole, for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.
2. We have every reason to thank Almighty Allah for the strength and grace to successfully go through the holy month of Ramadan in good health.
3. I also congratulate all Islamic voluntary organisations, such as the Aid Group of the JNI, JIBWIS, Fityanul Islam, FOMWAN, Voice of Islam, for the assistance and encouragement they rendered to the less privileged in our society during the month of Ramadan.
4. The month of Ramadan is a time for spiritual renewal, self denial and rekindled love and affection for mankind. Therefore as we celebrate the Eid-el-fitr to mark the end of the holy month, I wish to call on all Nigerians to continue to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and love which are the teachings of Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W).
5. Nasarawa State needs the sacrifice and understanding of all at this time to sustain our corporate security, social harmony, peaceful coexistence and prosperity. As people who have faith in the Almighty Allah the creator of all beings, I urge the Muslim Ummah to show love for others and live a life of sharing and caring. Islam is a religion of light, peace and truth, I therefore urge Muslims to remain steadfast in their public and private lives in accordance with the tenets of the religion.
6. Let me also use this opportunity to felicitate with His Excellency, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, GCFR, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid-el-fitr.
7. On behalf of my family, the government and good people of Nasarawa State, I wish the Muslim Ummah a happy, peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr.
8. Please remain law abiding, and always obey traffic regulations during the celebrations.
