Cuban Ambassador, Orlaida Cabrera-Gutierrez on a One-Day Visit to Nasarawa State

The Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Mrs. Orlaida Cabrera-Gutierrez has arrived Lafia, the capital city of Nasarawa State on a one day visit.

 Receiving the ambassador at government house Lafia, Governor Adamu extolled the cordial bilateral relationship existing between Cuba and Nigeria which informed his recent visit to Cuba. He said President Obasanjo and Fidel Castro have continued to maintain close personal relationship which has greatly contributed to the present good relationship existing between the two countries.

On the relationship between Nasarawa state and Cuba, Governor Adamu stated that the state had signed a memorandum of understanding in the areas of health care delivery, veterinary medicaments and animal husbandry where Cuba has shown immense expertise. He believed Nasarawa would benefit from the cooperation. He said the moment the implementation of the MOU commences, Cuban experts will be invited to Nigeria to assist in various areas of need. He therefore thanked the ambassador for taking time to visit the state and urged her to enjoy the scenic beauty of the state.

Earlier, ambassador Orlaida said she was in the state as part of her call of duty to help cement the relationship existing between Nasarawa state and Cuba. She said the state had the same climate and vegetation as most of Cuba and she felt at home visiting the state. She praised the developmental efforts of the Governor and urged him to continue in the good work.

After the formal reception, Ambassador Orlaida and Governor Adamu were accompanied by top ranking government officials into a technical session.
