Governor Adamu Registers as PDP Commences Registration in Nasarawa State

The Peoples Democratic Party in Nasarawa State has commenced the registration of its members in all electoral wards of the state. At the Angwa Rimi ward in Keffi Local Government, Governor Abdullahi Adamu paid the mandatory ten naira registration fee and was registered as party member 001 at exactly 12.15 PM on Monday, October 03, 2005.

The Governor who arrived the ward secretariat with a large retinue of his supporters was accompanied to the registration venue by the Minister for Labour and Productivity, Dr. Hassan Lawal. The governor was requested to provide details of his name, age and gender to the registration officer who then requested the governor to pay the mandatory ten naira registration fee. Thereafter, the registration officer informed the governor that his registration number on the register was 001 and the card would be sent to him later.

In an interview with journalists after the registration exercise, governor Adamu implored all party members in the state to revalidate their registration as that was the only way they could be considered authentic members of the party. The governor said the membership card was being issued by the party at this time to make room for new members to join the party. He stated that the exercise was going on smoothly throughout the state and there has been no report of problems with the registration.

The party registration exercise in the state is expected to last for one week and is taking place at all electoral wards.
