President Obasanjo in Karu, Commissions Housing Project

President Obasanjo has called on the private sector to intensify efforts at developing housing projects around the country. The President made the call while commissioning the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund Housing scheme at Mararaban-Gurku, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
President Obasanjo used the occasion to unveil his administrations housing policy which he said emphasized public/private sector partnership in housing development. He said government was ready to partner with any non-governmental agency which could galvanize funds to build house for the middle-level and low level income persons.
In a speech at the occasion, Governor Adamu said his administration was ready to give land at concessionary terms to any private developer who was willing to construct buildings in Nasarawa State. He said his administration established the Karu Area Development Authority to ensure the proper development of Karu area according to design. Governor Adamu used the occasion to commend the President for organizing the National Conference which is giving Nigerians an opportunity to dialogue on national issues.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Federal and State executive councils.
