            College of Arts, Science and Technology, Keffi.

2.         YEAR OF ESTABLISHMENT:

            The College was established in 1977

  3.     GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND LOCATION OF THE INSTITUTION:

The College is situated East of Keffi, about 4km along Keffi-Akwanga Road, on a relatively plain land. It covers an area of about 441 hectres.

 

4.         OBJECTIVES FOR ESTABLISHING OF INSTITION:

i)                    To provide courses of study, training in Arts, Languages, Natural, and social sciences for the purpose of entry requirements into Universities and other institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.

ii)                   To offer courses of instruction in Arts, Languages, Sciences, Management and Engineering Technology leading to the award of certificates, national Diploma and Higher national Diploma, so as to provide middle level manpower.

iii)                 To act as a Center of Research and training in all fields of Human endeavor.

 

5.         TYPE OF MANPOWER PRODUCED:

(a)                Prepare candidates for direct Entry into University through the Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMBE)

(b)               Production of intermediate manpower through Diploma and certificate courses.

8.         QUALIFICATION AND LEVELS OF ENTRY INTO THE INSTITUTION:

            a)         Basic Programme (IJMBE)

Minimum of 4 (four) credit passes at GCE/SSCE/O’Level in the relevant subjects including either Maths or English.

              b)      Diploma in Public Account and Audit (DPAA).

A pass at SSCE/WASC/GCE O’Level in Maths, English and two other from Economics, Government, Commerce, Principles of Accounting, Geography, Statistics, Business method plus a minimum of three years working experience in relevant field or four (4) credit passes at SSCE/WASC/GCE in the relevant subjects as in above.

              c)         Diploma in Public Administration (DPA)

Minimum of four (4) credit passes at GCE/WACE/SSCE ‘O’ Level in English Language Maths, and any two other subjects from Economics, Government, Commerce, Business Studies, Principles of Accounting, Statistics, Geography, Agric. Science and Biology at one more than two sittings.

              d)         Diploma in Business Administration and management (DBAM)

Candidates require four (4) credit passes at GCE/WASC/SSCE ‘O’ Level in English and Maths and any two other subjects from Economics, Business Studies, Principles of Accounting, Commerce, Statistics, Geography, Government, Agric. Science and Biology at one more than two sittings.

            e)         Certificate in Public Account and Audit and Audit (CPAA)

A pass in Mathematics, English Language, and others from Government, Commerce, Economics, Principles of Accounting, Business Methods, Book-Keeping, Statistics, Geography, Agric. Science and Biology at WASE/GCE/SSCE ‘O’ level.

              f)          Certificate in Public Administration (CIPA)

At least four passes at WACE/GCE/SSCE ‘O’ level in Government, Commerce, Economics, History, English Language, Geography, Business Methods, Principles and Statistics.

              g)         Certificate in Science Laboratory Technology (CSLT)

A pass in Mathematics, English Language and two passes at WACE/GCE/SSCE ‘O’ level in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agric Science, Technical Drawing, Mental and Woodwork, Geography, Further Maths and English Language, or a pass in three Science subject.

              h)         Certificate in Computer Studies (CCS)

Four passes at WACE/GCE/SSCE ‘O’ level in Maths, and three other subjects from Economics, Statistic, Geography, Government, History, Further Maths, Physics, and Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Science subjects.

              i)          Certificate in Business Administration and Management (CBAM)

A pass in Mathematics, English Language, and two others from Government, Commerce, Economics, Principles of Accounting Business Method, Book-Keeping, Statistics, Geography Agric. Science and Biology at WASC/GCE/SSCE ‘O’ level.

  j)          Remedial Programme

The minimum entry requirement is evidence of completion of a full post Primary School Education.
