Governor Tanko Al-Makura has appointed Management Committee Chairmen and Members for the 16 Development Areas of Nasarawa State. The appointments followed the expiration of term of office and dissolution of the former Management Committees by the House of Assembly recently.

Following reports of a spill-over of the crisis between Tiv Farmers and Fulani Herdsmen in neigbouring Benue State to border communities of Nasarawa State, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura on Tuesday, 21st June, 2011 presided over a joint meeting of the State Security Council, Traditional Rulers of Chiefdoms in Nasarawa State bordering Benue State and representatives of Fulani Herdsmen and Tiv Farmers at Government House, Lafia.

Governor Tanko Al-Makura has pledged to quickly improve the quality of life of the people of Lafia as he settles down to face the challenges of developing the State.

Pursuant to the voluntary retirement from service of the Secretary to the State Government and the Head of Civil Service of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Governor of Nasarawa State, has directed that the duties of these offices be covered by the following pending substantive appointment of to fill the positions.

The Nasarawa State Government has said it will abide by the judgement of the State High Court which declared the dissolution of the 13 Local Government Councils as unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional.
