As Christians in Nasarawa State join other faithful all over the world to celebrate Christmas in commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ today, 25th December, 2010, I felicitate and congratulate the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the clergy and indeed other adherents of the Christian faith on this joyous occasion.

As you are all aware, the birth of Jesus Christ signifies the promise of salvation, reconciliation hope and peace for humanity. The occasion of Christmas offers all Christian faithful the opportunity for sober reflection, sacrifice and demonstration of love and goodwill to fellow men. These virtues are the platform upon which the Christian faith is based.

During this yuletide therefore, I enjoin all Christians in Nasarawa State to continue to imbibe the spirit of the season by showing love, affection and goodwill to all.

Let me remind all Christians, and indeed, the entire people of the State to use this season to sustain prayers for the security, peace and prosperity of the State in particular, we all need to offer prayers for the peaceful conduct of the forthcoming general elections in the state and Nigeria at large. This is more so because of the forthcoming general elections in the state and the Country.

My dear people of Nasarawa State, during this celebration, security agencies have been put on full alert to ensure peace and tranquillity in the State. All and sundry are therefore reminded to continue to be law abiding and shun all negative tendencies, capable of disrupting public peace and harmony.

I must also not forget to remind you of the usually increased vehicular movements at this time. I therefore urge you to obey all traffic regulations at all times.

I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy prosperous New Year.

 ALIYU AKWE DOMA, OON,
(Madaucin Doma),
Executive Governor,
Nasarawa State.
