Traditional rulers in the State have been reassured that they would continue to receive the necessary encouragement and support to more effectively play their roles as fathers of their people and custodians of culture and traditions.

The assurance was given by Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma while performing the official installation and presentation of first class staff of office to the Osu Ajiri of Edege Chiefdom, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Oto. The ceremony which took place at Udege – Mbeki during the weekend, attracted a cross section of top government officials and politicians from across the State.

The Osu Ajiri who is part of the recently promoted traditional rulers, was hitherto, a Chief of 2nd class status.

Addressing guests at the occasion, Governor Doma said that the people of Edege Chiefdom deserved the honour of the upliftment because of the contributions of the people towards the emergence and development of Nasarawa State.

Governor Akwe Doma also used the occasion to remind the people of Nasarawa State of the forthcoming Nationwide Voters’ Registration exercise, informing them that “without a Voter’s Card, you cannot vote, nor can you be voted for, in any election”.
