Women hold political rally in Lafia

Women in Nasarawa State have held a rally to sensitise the womenfolk on political participation and decision making.
Addressing the rally in Lafia, the State Governor, Aliyu Akwe Doma, said the rally was timely and symbolic, coming at a period when the nation is agog with activities in preparation for the 2011 general elections.
Continuing, the Governor stated that “by turning out in such a large number for the event, our women have demonstrated that they have come of age, and are ready and willing to take their rightful place in the scheme of things in the State and nation”.
The rally which attracted many women groups from across the State witnessed lectures and speeches from distinguished resources persons. The rally was also addressed by the wife of the Executive Governor, Hajiya Raliya Akwe Doma who urged the women to unite for the good of Nasarawa State.
