The Nasarawa State Government has announced the end of the tenure of Local Government Councils in the State. In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Timothy Anijde, the Government said this was in accordance with the provision of Section 14 Sub Section I of the Nasarawa State Local Government Law 2009.

 

The statement said the outgoing Local Government Chairmen are to handover the affairs of their Local Government Councils to Directors of Personnel Management who shall cover the duties of the Local Government Councils until democratically elected Councils are in place.

TERMINATION OF TENURE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCILS IN NASARAWA STATE

 

In accordance with the provision of Section 14 Sub Section I of the Nasarawa State Local Government Law 2009, the tenure of the present Local Government Councils in the State expires today being the 3rd day of November, 2010.  The Councils therefore stand dissolved.

 

2.         Accordingly, the outgoing Local Government Chairmen are hereby directed to handover the affairs of their Local Government Councils to Directors of Personnel Management who shall cover the duties of the Local Government Councils until democratically elected Councils are in place.

 

3.         His Excellency, the Executive Governor thanks all the outgoing Local Government Chairmen and Councilors for the services rendered to their Local Government Areas and the State in general.

 

4.         His Excellency, the Executive Governor wishes them all the best of luck in their future endeavours while hoping that they would continue to give maximum cooperation and support to the State Administration in whatever way possible in our collective resolve and efforts to move Nasarawa State to greater heights.
