On this occasion of the 2010 Eid-el-Fitr celebration, I, on behalf of the Government and people of Nasarawa State, congratulate the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Chapter of the Jamaatu'ul Nasiril Islam; all Muslim leaders; the Ulamah and the entire Muslim faithful in Nasarawa State and indeed, the whole of Nigeria, for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.
2. The past one month has been a period of sober reflection as all Muslims committed themselves to Allah's injunction to fast, pray, show love and carry out acts of charity. We thank Almighty Allah for giving us the strength and grace to successfully go through the holy month in good health.
3. The month of Ramadan is a sacred period of total obedience, devotion and worship of Allah. Indeed it is a period to specially request Allah for His forgiveness and blessings, as well as renewal of our spiritual life through self denial.
4. I commend all Islamic voluntary organisations in the State, such as the Aid Group of the Jamaatu'u Nasril Islam and the Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), for the spiritual, voluntary and humanitarian support they rendered to all, particularly the less privileged, during the fasting period.
5. The Eid-el-fitr is also an opportunity for me to once again call on all and sundry to continue to show understanding and accommodation for each other in order to sustain our corporate security, social harmony, peaceful coexistence and prosperity in the State. I urge all the citizens of the State to use this occasion to renew love for each other and live a life of sharing and caring. Let us, therefore, celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr in a peaceful, loving and harmonious manner.
6. Let me also use this opportunity to felicitate with His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and indeed, all Nigerians on this occasion of the Eid-el-fitr.
7. Finally, on behalf of my family and the Government of Nasarawa State, I wish the people of Nasarawa State a happy, peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
8. Please celebrate wisely and drive carefully.
