Nasarawa South Senatorial District Holds Support Rally for Governor Doma

People of the Nasarawa South Senatorial District have today been holding a grand rally in support of calls on Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma to contest the 2011 gubernatorial elections.
The rally which was organised by supporter of Governor Doma in the district was attended by a mammoth crowd made up of prominent personalities from across the country.
Amongst personalities at the ceremony were the President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator David Mark; the Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam; Deputy Governors of Nasarawa, Bauchi and Plateau States as well as the Chairman of the Occasion, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur. Guest Speaker at the occasion was Senator (Dr.) Ibrahim Mantu, former Deputy Senate President.
At the occasion, various speakers eulogized the virtues of Governor Doma and the role he has played in repositioning Nasarawa State for growth and development. His many achievements in various areas of human development, particularly in education, health, agriculture, economic empowerment and others were mentioned as indicators to his qualification for a second term in office. All the speakers urged him to contest the elections in order to continue the good works he had already stated and put the State on a firm foundation.
Among those who spoke were the Senate President, former Governor Abdullahi Adamu; Benue Governor Suswam; Senator Adokwe; Deputy Governors of Bauchi and Plateau amongst a host of others.
In a response to the calls of the people, Governor Doma thanked them for the massive support and encouragement, stating that his role in the creation of Nasarawa State left him with no option than to selflessly contribute to the development of Nasarawa State.
On the calls for him to contest the 2011 elections, he said he will consider the issue and make his views known in due course.
The rally witnessed one of the biggest crowds in Lafia in recent times.
