Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma has laid the foundation stone of the Nasarawa State Government House banquet hall in Lafia, the state capital.

Governor Doma, in his address at the occasion said that the contract which was awarded to shelter development limited would cost the sum of Eight Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (N850m), adding that it would contain a seating capacity for 1000 guests, standard waiting lounge for artistes, exhibition hall, industrial kitchen, protocol and related officials apartments, press gallery and offices for auxiliary staff.

While reaffirming his total commitment to provide necessary infrastructure that would promote socio-economic activities as well as enhance the dignity and image of the state, Governor Doma stressed the need for all public officers to embrace maintenance culture by taking proper care of government property.

In his welcome address, the commissioner for housing and urban development, Hon. Muhammadu Chindo Yamusa commended Governor Doma for awarding the contract, assuring him of their constant supervision of the project to its completion.

While assuring Governor Doma that they would deliver their best, the representative of the Managing Director of Shelter Development Limited, Engr. Hassan Muhammed promised to finish the project within the stipulated time.

Also speaking, Arch. Ashikeni Godwin, permanent secretary, ministry of housing, environment and urban development, thanked Governor Doma for approving the project and laying its foundation, assuring him that they would work tireless to ensure the successful completion of the project.

The event was graced by the Speaker, Nasarawa State House Assembly, Hon Musa Ahmed Muhammed, commissioners, permanent secretaries and the Emir of Lafia, Alhaji(Dr.) Isa Mustapha Agwai I among others.
