The Chief  of Army Staff Lt. Gen Kuka N. Yusuf and four other illustrious sons of Kaduna state were honoured by the Kaninkon people.

The ceremony which took place at Ungwar Fari Kaninkon last week, was celebrated with the Dung Nikyob annual cultural festival.

The other recipients are the deputy governor of Kaduna state Mr. Patrick Yakowa, the minister of state for Aviation Honourable Hassan Hyet, the member of Kaduna state House of Assembly representing Jema’a constituency, Honourable Labari Tela, and the Chairman of Jema’a Local government council, Honourable Gideon Y. Morik.

In an address, the governor of Kaduna state commended chief of Kaninkon mallam Tanko Tete for inviting him to serve as special guest of honour at the occasion.

Represented by the deputy governor of the state Mr Patrick Yakowa the governor added that he was impressed with the presence of many distinguished personalities who attended the ceremony.

Arch Sambo observed that the African culture and tradition, places great emphasis on the unity, peace and harmony of all communities, to which he attributed the modest achievements recorded in Kaninkon chiefdom.

In his speech the chairman of Jema’a Local Government Council Barrister Gideon Y. Morik commended the governor and his deputy for what they have been doing for the people of Jema’a local government area.

Morik however appealed to the state government to hasten the completion of Kafanchan stadium and the immediate actualization of the take off of the Kaduna state university, Kafanchan campus.

In his speech, the Tum Nikyob Mallam Tanko Tete appealed to Kaduna state government to construct the road from Kafanchan-Angwan Fari-Bakin Kogi to Jagindi.

He added that the illustrious sons of the state that were honoured at the occasion, have contributed tremendously to the development of the state, and urged them not to relent.
