Governor Doma vows to implement development agenda

In pursuance of his desire to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people, Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma of Nasarawa State has re-affirmed his commitment to the full implementation of his administration’s policies and programmes as contained in the 13-point agenda.
Governor Doma stated this during the conclusion of his “meet-the-people” tour to the local government and traditional councils of Lafia Local Government Area, last week Thursday.
Governor Doma assured the people of the area of his government’s determination to look into their demands for the completion of Shinge to Doma road.
He said the completion of Lafia modern market, construction of three modern high courts building, investment house, rehabilitation and expansion of Lafia urban water supply scheme to increase the volume of water supply from 6.5 million litres to 22.5 million litres per-day by his administration would go a long way in boosting the socio-economic activities in Lafia, the state capital.
The governor thanked God and the emir of Lafia who is also the chairman Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, Dr. Isa Mustapha Agwai I for his fatherly advice, guidance and support to his administration, describing their relationship as cordial. He also commended the chairman of Lafia Local Government Council, Alhaji Rayyanu Iliyasu for embarking on meaningful projects in the area.
While thanking the people of Nasarawa State for supporting the recent launch of the second edition of the Badakoshi agricultural scheme, he urged them to continue to support the scheme with a view to boosting agricultural production in the state.
In his welcome address, the chairman, Lafia Local Government Area, Alhaji Rayyanu Iliyasu said that the programme and policies of Governor Doma would bring about rapid the socio-economic development of Nasarawa State.
Alhaji Iliyasu pointed out that the untiring effort of the governor in the areas of road constructions, agriculture, health, education, economic empowerment, water supply among others were worthy of commendation.
While briefing the governor on some of his achievements in office, the council chairman said he has constructed the 1.3 kilometre Shinge road, 10 bed-primary healthcare clinic, fenced the quarters for the physically challenged people and procured a 60KVA generator and vehicles for the council.
Also at the event, the emir of Lafia, Dr. Isa Mustapha Agwai I conferred the traditional title of Shettima Kanuribe of Lafia on Governor Doma.
The emir commended the governor for his achievements in the state, urging him to continue with his good work.
The tour featured the commissioning of the 1.3 kilometre Shinge road, primary health care at Ungwan Toni as well as the hosting of a traditional durbar.
Other areas visited by Governor Doma during the meet-the-people tour included Doma Local Government Area, Ekye, Lafia North and Lafia East development areas.
