Government to establish cement factory

Nasarawa State Government has announced its plan to establish a cement factory in the state through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) so as to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths.
Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma stated this while declaring open the 25th Annual General meeting of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) held at the conference hotel, Lafia.
The governor who was represented by the deputy governor, Chief John Michael Abdul said his administration has placed emphasis on the industrialization of the state aimed at diversifying its economic base.
Governor Doma said, it was in line with this, that the state government, through the Nasarawa Investment property and Development Company Limited, established the Nasarawa Bottling Company, producers of Nas Bottled Water, adding that the government has also established the salt processing factories in Awe and Keana local government areas to exploit the abundant salt deposits in the state.
He urged investors to invest in the solid minerals sector in the state as well as in the areas of agriculture and tourism.
Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma reiterated that his administration has created a favourable environment for investors, calling on the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) to encourage its members to come and invest in the state.
While urging the association to partner with foreign investors so as to revive the ailing industrial sectors in the country, he commended the federal government for its concerted efforts aimed at revitalizing the industries in the country.
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of MAN in the zone which comprised of Bauchi, Benue, Gombe, Nasarawa and Plateau states, Mr. Jonathan Omigbinde said, members of the association gathered in Nasarawa State to review the performance of the association and the economic policies of the Nigeria government.
Mr. Omigbende called on the Nasarawa State Government to increase its cassava production so as to put Nigeria on a top rank in the world. He commended the governor for his developmental strides, saying that the 13-point agenda initiated by Governor Doma was one of the most ambitious in the entire country as it covered all the aspect of development in the society.
The occasion featured the presentation of an award of excellence to Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma as well as commissioner of commerce, Hon. Mohammed Barki Sameel.
