Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma has said that arrangements have been concluded for the building of more vocational training schools in Awe and Azara areas of the state with a view to exploiting the vast solid minerals deposit in the Area.

Governor Doma stated this while on his meet-the-people tour of Awe and Azara Areas.

While inspecting the Awe salt processing plant in Awe Local Government Area, Governor Doma stated that “consultations and partnership arrangements have reached advanced stage with some private investors and key stakeholders in  defining and clearly stating the compelling vision and expectations for the plant.”

He recalled that in the then Northern region, Nigeria depended on the Awe and Azara salt for her consumption needs, saying that the need to sustain the plant could not be over emphasised.

Governor Doma pointed out with gratitude the appreciable progress made by his administration in Awe Local Government Area, especially with the construction of the salt processing plant, construction and rehabilitation of schools infrastructure, comprehensive primary healthcare centre in various parts of the area, as well as the provision of loans, tractors and fertilizers under the Badakoshi/Fadama III agricultural schemes to the farmers.

While commissioning projects executed by the council chairman, which included the Kekura electrification project, motorized boreholes, three blocks of classrooms at the junior secondary school Awe and the extension of Awe secretariat complex, Governor Doma commended the efforts of the local government chairman and the traditional council for providing laudable projects to the people, assuring them of his commitment in ensuring the speedy construction of Azara federal road.

He thanked the Emir of Awe, Alhaji Abubakar Umar II for his fatherly guidance towards the transformation of the area, calling for continued cooperation between the local government and the traditional council for the peace and growth of the area.

Similarly, in Azara Development Area, Governor Doma promised that he would approve the contract for the completion of Azara - Kanje road as well as ensure the completion of Adudu –Wuse- Akiri- Plateau border road before the end of this year.

He said, so far, arrangements have also reached advanced stages between government and private investors for the establishment of solid minerals processing industries in the area, calling on the people of Azara to check the activities of illegal miners in the area.

While commending the effort of the administrator, Alhaji Sarki Tanko and the Emir of Azara, Dr. Kabir Ibrahim for providing conducive environment for socio-economic activities to thrive among their people, Governor Doma stressed the need for sustainable peace and security of the area.

Speaking separately, the chairman of Awe, Hon Musa Saidu and the administrator,

Azara Development Area, Alhaji Sarki Tanko pledged their unflinching support to the governor Doma led-administration for bringing programmes and projects that have direct bearing to the lives of the people of the area.

They described the construction of the solid minerals industries, roads, and rural electrification as commendable achievements of the government, adding that within Doma’s three years in office, the area has witnessed a lot of transformation.

They expressed their total support to governor Doma, urging him to continue the work he has started.

Also speaking at the event, the two royal fathers, the Emir of Awe, Alhaji Abubakar  Umar II and the Emir of Azara, Dr. Kabir Ibrahim both thanked Governor Doma for enhancing the socio-economic activities of the area.
