In furtherance to the commitment of the Nasarawa State Government towards confronting headlong, the sudden and unacceptable environmental condition in the Greater Karu Area of the State occasioned by the influx of people and generation of waste, His Excellency, Alhaji (Dr.) Aliyu Akwe Doma, OON (Madauchin Doma), Executive Governor of Nasarawa State has approved the constitution of a 16-man Special Task Force.

3. The Terms of Reference of the Task Force are as follows:
i. To ensure the general environmental cleanliness of the Greater Karu Area on a sustainable basis;
ii. To acquire appropriate domestic household dustbins and related refuse collection items for sale to the public
iii. To acquire large size refuse bins and deploy same to strategic locations to enhance refuse collection operations;
iv. To ensure public compliance with sanitations laws, regulations and norms;
v. To ensure that defaulters and violators are sanctioned by appropriate authorities;
vi. To mount public enlightenment campaign on good sanitary and environmental practices;
vii. To partner with individuals and organisations in the discharge of the assignment.
4. The Task Force has been given six (6) months within which to accomplish its assignment.
5. The Task Force will be inaugurated on Tuesday, 27th July, 2010 at 10.00 a.m.
