About 400 indigenes of Nasarawa State have recently been recruited into the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The state commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Emmanuel O. Nweze, disclosed this in his office at Lafia, the state capital, adding that, “recruitment exercise is done regularly to enable us meet our manpower needs”.

The state NSCDC boss advised the general public to be wary of fraudulent individuals who were out to deceive or extort money from prospective applicants, maintaining that the issuance of appointment letters by the corps was always based on merit and not to the highest bidder.

He further charged the newly recruited officers to be good ambassadors of the corps and to remain committed to their duty so as to promote the high standards which the NSCDC was known for.

Mr. Nweze said that if the recruited personnel adhered strictly to their rules of engagement, criminal activities would be drastically reduced in the country.

He called on the corps from Nasarawa State to report any criminal act promptly to security agencies in order to ensure a crime free state, adding that “no society can experience rapid development when there is high prevalence of criminal activities”
