The Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Keffi zonal office launched its pupils enrolment awareness campaign in Panda Development Area last week.
The enrolment awareness campaign held at Panda Central Primary School ground, was aimed at increasing awareness on the need for the Nigerian child to be educated.
In an address during the occasion, the SUBEB zonal officer Keffi, Mr. Towo J. Aguma, stressed that, “the aim of the campaign was to mobilise, sensitize and create awareness to ourselves on the need to enroll our school age children into school irrespective of their sex, physical and mental condition.”
Mr. Aguma further stated that whatever occupation or profession parents want their child to engage in, “the child stands the chance to excel better if he or she is educated”.
According to him, many school age children were now roaming the streets, engaging in vices. This necessitated the present administration to embark on the sensitization exercise.
Also speaking, the administrator of Panda Development Area, Hon. Bulus A. Angba (JP) said the importance of education could not be over emphasised, hence, the need for all to acquire it. Though according to him, “the education of the girl child is seen as a waste by most individuals,” he appealed to parents to carry both sexes along.
Hon. Angba noted that, giving priority to education and other laudable programmes were the keys to societal development, adding that, the formulation and implementation of people oriented programme by the present administration under the leadership of Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma has touched the lives of the people positively.
According to him, the 13-point agenda of the governor with education inclusive was being implemented steadily.
In his vote of thanks the education secretary, Panda Development Area, Mr. Akuso A. Ibrahim commended the SUBEB for organising the campaign, urging parents to take advantage of the programme.
He thanked the people for attending the awareness campaign wishing them save journey back to their various destinations.
