The entire members of the Mada community in Nasarawa State have been  warned to desist from  engaging in acts capable of threatening the existing peace in the area and to love one another.

Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma gave the warning when the district and village heads, Peoples Democratic Party officials and other stakeholders of the Mada community led by the deputy governor, Chief John Mike Abdul paid him a thank you visit at the Ibrahim Abacha Youth Centre in Lafia, the state capital, during the week.

He pointed out that the creation of the three (3) chiefdoms of Chun Mada, Sarkin Nunku and Ngah respectively by his administration was done with fairness so as to resolve the prolonged chieftaincy tussle in Mada land, expressing his hope that the government’s decision would go a long way in cementing the relationship between them “for the sake of peace and progress of the area.”

Governor Doma appealed to the entire Mada to put aside their differences and unite in order to solve their problems.

While thanking the entire Mada for the honour and support to him ahead of the 2011 elections, he assured them of his total commitment to selfless service in order to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the Mada community, the leader of the delegation, the deputy governor, Chief John Mike Abdul said governor Doma has endeared himself to the hearts of the Mada people through the resolution of the Mada chiefdom tussle and his giant development strides across the state.

While thanking Governor Doma for giving them a sense of belonging, Chief John Mike Abdul described Governor Doma as “a man of integrity who always matches words with action and has been able to resolve the 30-year old dispute peacefully”.

He assured Governor Doma that they would not betray his confidence in them, promising that they would unite for the development of the area and the entire state.
