The Lafia Local Government Education Authority is doing all it could to ensure that teachers enjoy in-service training.

The Lafia Local Government Education Authority is doing all it could to ensure that teachers enjoy in-service training.

The in-service training would surely improve the knowledge and skills of the teacher so that they can impact positively on the pupils.

These facts were revealed in Lafia by the head of section of Lafia Education Authority, Mr. Danlami John Awuma, while speaking on behalf of the education secretary.

Mr. Awuma said the State Universal Primary Education Board (SUPEB) had been organizing building capacity workshops for teachers.

He commended the chairman of the board, Alhaji Umaru Mairiga for living up to his responsibilities in ensuring that the teaching profession was improved upon particularly in Nasarawa State.

According to him, the efforts of the SUPEB chairman in training the teachers has changed the attitude of teachers drastically.

Mr. Awuma pointed out that SUPEB normally provides instructional materials to Lafia Local Government Education Authority so that pupils can be taught properly.

He commended the good working relationship existing between the teachers and the management staff of Lafia Local Government Education Authority, pointing out that the department normally supervises teachers to encourage them to put in their best.

The head of section advised teachers to continue to put in their best as they used to do for the benefit of the younger generation and development of the state and the country at large.

He also commended the SUPEB chairman, Alhaji Mairiga for living up to his responsibilities and charged him to keep it up.

Mr. Awuma stated that plans were on the pipeline by the Lafia Local Government Education Authority to organize a workshop for teachers on new methods of teaching, record keeping, curriculum development and orientation of supervisors on modern technique in supervision.

He also advised teachers to always be loyal and support the present government to enable it succeed in the task ahead as according to him, the government is ever willing to carter for the well-being of teachers.

The head of section also charged pupils to give their teachers the necessary cooperation so that the teachers can teach them properly.

He also enjoined the Parents Teachers’ Association (PTA) to always give the education authority all the cooperation required so that together they can uplift the standard of education in the state.

Mr. Awuma pointed out that Lafia Local Government Education Authority would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that it boosts the standard of education at both the local government level and the state in general.
