Following the splitting of the old Mada Chiefdom into three chiefdoms in Akwanga Local Government of Nasarawa State by Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma, the entire Mada people have vowed not only to immortalize the governor, but to also endorse him as their only candidate for the year 2011 governorship election.
According to them, "we will show Governor Akwe Doma our appreciation in the 2011 general elections, no vote of a mada man or women will go to anyone else in the governorship election."
They called on the entire people of Nasarawa State to rally round the administration of Governor Doma in his second term bid to enable him continue with "the good work he is doing for the over all development of the state."
It would be recalled that it has been a celebration galore in Akwanga Local Government Area, since the creation of three chiefdoms in the area, last week, by Governor Doma, which included Nunku chiefdom, Mada chiefdom and Nghah chiefdom.
The Mada people continued to pay glowing tribute to the governor, believing that the creation would bring an end to the prolonged chieftaincy tussle and foster unity among the people of the area.
During the week, Mada people from all walks of life gathered in Akwanga to express their happiness and appreciation to Governor Akwe Doma.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman of Akwanga Local Government, Arch. Stanley M. Buba thanked Governor Doma for his care and love for the entire Mada nation. He particularly expressed his gratitude to the governor for finding a lasting solution to the prolonged dispute of Mada chieftaincy stool by creating three chiefdoms in the area, saying "the governor has touched the Mada people in a very special and measureable way."
Arch. Buba assured Governor Doma that the entire Mada people would justify the confidence and love reposed in them by giving him their unalloyed support and votes come year 2011 elections, maintaining that, "no Mada man’s vote will go anywhere other than to Governor Doma."
Speaking on the appointment of the rulers of the newly created chiefdoms, the chairman assured that the Akwanga local government would ensure peaceful, credible and transparent selection of the chiefs.
He also called on the entire Mada nation to embrace the decision of the state government and to continue to live in peace and unity for the betterment of the entire Mada nation.
Earlier, the national president of Mada Development Association (MDA) Dr. Silas Gyar said Governor Akwe Doma’s gesture in Mada land has provided the area with succour, peace, unity and harmony, calling on Mada people to continue to support the governor Doma led-government.
He also commended the Nasarawa State deputy governor, Chief John Michael Abdul and other illustrious sons and daughters of Mada for their relentless efforts to ensure the success and unity of Mada nation.
