The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) governorship candidate in the year 2007 election in Nasarawa State, Barr. Solomon Ewuga, who, before last week, was seen by many across the state and beyond as a would-be challenger of Governor Doma during next year’s gubernatorial election, has gracefully bowed out of the race.

Making known his decision to bow out of the race, last week, in Akun Development Area when Governor Doma visited the area as part of his meet-the-people tour of the state, Barr. Ewuga cited the need for all notable politicians and people in Nasarawa State to join hands and develop the state as his reason.

Barr. Ewuga who was defeated by Governor Doma in a keenly contested Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in the 2007, it would be recalled, left the PDP for the ANPP where he was offered an automatic ticket to contest the gubernatorial election.

According to Barr. Ewuga, the need for politicians in the state to work together cannot be overemphasized, calling on his colleagues to unite and support the incumbent governor during next year’s gubernatorial election.

While drumming support for the governor, Barr. Ewuga noted that the Doma led-administration has achieved a lot in the state, especially in the areas of agriculture, roads network and education.

He stressed the need to give Governor Doma a second term of office to enable him consolidate on the present gains.

During his speech at the occasion, governor Doma, described his relationship with Barr. Ewuga as cordial, calling on the entire people of the state to unite and support the government in its bid to transform the state positively.

Governor Doma who reiterated his administration’s commitment to the implementation of its 13-point agenda, said he has since directed the commencement of the distribution and sale of fertilizer to farmers at a subsidized price of N1,800 for the year 2010 cropping season.

Governor Doma  noted the significant development brought to both Akun and Agidi development areas through his 13-point agenda, particularly in the areas of education, health, agriculture, roads construction, and rural electrification. 

Governor Doma commended the leadership of Aren Akun, Alhaji Usman Galadima Umbugadu, the Sarkin Amgbashi Agidi, as well as the administrators of the two development areas, Hon. Istifanus Dennis and Comrade Clement Anduwa respectively for sustaining peace, security and socio-economic development of their areas, urging them to continue the good work.
