Women Group Receive Gifts

Items worth thousands of Naira were today donated to women in two Local Government Areas of the State.
The donation was made by the National Centre for Women in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Ministry of Women Affairs.
The two benefitting Local Government Areas are Doma and Nasarawa.
Presenting the items, wife of the Nasarawa State Governor Hajiya Raliyatu Akwe Doma said the items were donated by complement the thirteen point agenda of the Governor towards empowering women in the State.
According to her the items are meant to improve the status of women while urging the beneficiaries to make good use of the items given to them.
In an address of welcome, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, (Dr.) Mrs. Rebecca Isaac Umaru explained that the gesture is as a result of participation of a programme attended by the two Local Government Areas in Abuja which was sponsored by the Governor.
She explained that the Ministry has ten women development centres in the State out of the thirteen Local Government Areas adding that those local governments which are yet to get should exercise patience as efforts are underway to provide for them.
Dr. Rebecca Umaru maintained that women empowerment has been a major policy of this administration, promising to take the Ministry to greater height.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, President Wives in Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria WAlGON Nasarawa State chapter, Hajiya Lubabatu Musa Saidu applauded the effort of the Nasarawa State Government for promoting women in the State.
