About two hundred children have been dewormed at Kurkyo in Lafia Local Government Council.
The deworming exercise is courtesy the Federation of Muslims Women’s Association of Nigeria, FOMWAN Nasarawa State chapter.
Speaking shortly before the take-off of the exercise, Nasarawa State Amiral of the FOMWAN, Hajia Zainab Abdulmumini explained that the deworming exercise is part of activities to mark this year’s FOMWAN week.
She pointed out that the exercise is aimed at complementing the State Government’s efforts at providing good healthcare to the people at the grassroots.
Hajia Zainab Abdulmumini, who is also the Permanente Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, disclosed that the association which has been in existence for the past twenty-five years has set aside June every year to observe the week with several line-up of activities.
Addressing women during the exercise, the state Amiral charged them to join the Association so as to propagate Islam.
She equally advised them to acquire both western and Islamic knowledge stressing the need for mothers to give priority to the health of their children.
Earlier, the State Amiral led members of the Association to the palace of the village head of Kurkyo Alhaji Jibrin Gambo where they stated their mission.
Responding, the village head Alhaji Jibrin Gambo who appreciated the kind gesture of FOMWAN prayed God to reward them richly.
