The Nasarawa State Pensions Bureau has started the disbursement of N100 million to the 120 pensioners, who were cleared at last week’s screening exercise.
The Director General of the Bureau, Abubakar Idris Gani, who gave the cheques to the pensions said, “The administration’s 13-point agenda is clear on the economic empowerment of the people of Nasarawa State. We have been doing this for the past three years. This exercise cuts across the 13 local government areas and 16 development areas of the state. We also spend N100 million every month on retirement benefits and we have not defaulted since the inception of this administration”, he added.
He said the bureau has installed a foul-proof mechanism for stall fraud in the payment system and warned that anyone caught would be made to face the law. He also advised pensioners to update their documents to avoid any embarrassment.
“We have totally terminated the operation of touts and middlemen who often act as agents of unsuspecting beneficiaries to deprive them of their benefits”, he added.
