The Federal Government has announced plans to dualise the Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia and Enugu roads.

Federal Minister of Works, Senator Mohammed Sanusi Daggash disclosed this during a courtesy visit on Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma in Lafia.

According to the Works Minister, plans are in top gear towards awarding contract for the dualisation of the roads, assuring that in the next two weeks the matter would be presented before the Federal Executive Council for consideration.

The minister added that work will commence as soon as the ongoing realignment of the dangerous curves along Akwanga – Lafia highway is completed this year.

Senator Daggash who was accompanied by the Minister of State for Works, Engineer Chris Oweyi and other top management staff of the ministry further explained that they were in Nasarawa State to inspect ongoing works on some federal road projects in the state.

He further assured Governor Akwe Doma that the Federal Government is determined to ensure all road projects are completed on schedule and according to specifications.

The minister who described Nasarawa State as one of the strategic states in the federation due largely to its mineral and agricultural potentials said the state stands to benefit a lot from the federal road projects.

While responding, Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma thanked the minister for the visit, assured that his administration would do everything possible to support Federal Government in the realization of the road projects in the state.
