The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries in Nasarawa State have been urged to uphold and promote the cherished and time-tested ethos and values of the Civil Service. Governor Akwe Doma stated this while swearing-in the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries in Lafia.
The ceremony which drew a large crowd witnessed the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries taking their oath of office and oath of allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In an address at the ceremony, Governor Doma called on them to ensure strict adherence to laid down procedures in the conduct of Government business. Continuing, he stated “you should always endeavour to channel your energies and leadership towards the achievement of set goals and objectives. You should ensure that at no time would your loyalty and integrity be questioned in the performance of your duties”.
Postulating the mission of his Administration, Governor Doma said the need for accelerated socio-economic development of Nasarawa State is a major preoccupation of the Administration. He stated that the role of the Civil Service, in this regard, has therefore become more crucial, considering the fact that, it is the backbone of any Government in the formulation and implementation of policies and programmes.
Explaining the rationale for the appointments, the Governor said the appointments became imperative following the vacancies created by the retirement of some Permanent Secretaries in the State Civil Service. But beyond that, the new appointments are also meant to inject fresh blood and re-invigorate the machinery of Government, in line with our commitment to have a strong, virile and result-oriented Civil Service.
The ceremony was well attended by guests.
