Nasarawa Presents 2010 Budget of N67billion

Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma of Nasarawa State has presented the 2010 Fiscal Appropriation Bill to the House of Assembly for consideration.
The Appropriation Bills which proposes a total expenditure of Sixty-seven Billion, Eight Hundred and Sixty-Five Million, Two Hundred and Forty-four Thousand, Five Hundred and Thirty-six Naira (N67,865,244,536.00) was presented this morning in a packed House of Assembly complex.
According to Governor Doma, the conceptual framework of the 2010 fiscal appropriation is anchored on the need to consolidate on the achievements of the past two years, towards the attainment of a sound foundation for accelerated economic growth and development in the State.
On the basis of this framework, the Governor said the policy thrust of the budget would be, amongst others, the completion of all projects initiated by this Administration; commencement of new projects that are necessary for the socio-economic development of the State; completion of inherited abandoned projects considered essential for socio-economic development of the State; enhancement of revenue generation and improvement of revenue collection machinery; and, enforcement of compliance with financial instruction and budget discipline.
The budget proposes a capital expenditure of Forty Billion, Six Hundred and Forty-six Million, Two Hundred and Sixty-five Thousand, Three Hundred and Eighty-three Naira (N40,646,265,383.00) representing 60% of the budget, while the sum of Twenty-Seven Billion, Two Hundred and Eighteen Million, Nine Hundred and Seventy-nine Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty-three Naira (N27,218,979,153.00) representing 40% of the total budget size, is earmarked for recurrent expenditure.
Major projects to be executed during the year include the construction of roads, rehabilitation of educational and health facilities, as well as, the promotion of commercial agriculture.
