PROTOCOLS:
It is with gratitude to the Almighty God that I am here today to flag-off the construction and rehabilitation of Nassarawa Eggon – Mada Station road project.
2.
You would all recall that three weeks ago, we embarked
on a series of flag-off ceremonies for the construction and rehabilitation of some
major roads in the State. Today’s flag off ceremony concludes the first phase in
our commitment to construct and/or rehabilitate roads across the state. More
roads are being designed for construction in the second phase of the programme.
3.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Nassarawa Eggon – Mada
Station road project was conceived to facilitate the easy movement of
agricultural produce and people from this area to other parts of the State and
the country at large. It is in furtherance of this objective that this
Administration has considered it appropriate to rehabilitate and/or construct
the road to the higher grade of second coating standard.
4.
I therefore hope that the benefitting
communities will maximize the advantages derivable from the construction of
this road to boost their socio-economic fortunes and to facilitate communal
interaction and integration.
5.
The contract for this road project has been
awarded to Messrs Sharafa Brothers Nig. Ltd., at a total cost of Six
Hundred and Nineteen Million, Six Hundred and Sixteen Thousand, Twenty-five
Naira (N619,616,025.00)
only. The project has a completion period of nine (9) months.
6.
While I congratulate the Company for winning the
contract, let me urge the company to justify the confidence reposed in it by
completing the road on time and in accordance with specification.
7.
At this juncture, I will like to call on the
communities who are the direct beneficiaries of this road project to support
and cooperate with the company to enable it discharge its contractual
obligations without hindrance.
8.
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, I should
once again emphasise that the development and progress of our state is a
collective responsibility because
9.
I cannot conclude this address without stressing
the need for peaceful co-existence between and among the various communities in
the state, as no meaningful progress can be achieved in an atmosphere of mutual
suspicion and rancor. Let us leave the past to history and face the future with
determination, hope and promise. We must always be guided by the noble
principle of mutual trust and confidence, as well as abiding faith in our
common destiny.
10.
In conclusion, I would like to express my
gratitude to our friends, associates and well wishers, who have kept faith with
us in our development efforts. I appreciate your support, and assure you that I
remain committed to the development of every segment of our state for the
benefit of all. May the Almighty Allah continue to guide us aright at all
times.
11.
On this note, ladies and gentlemen, it is now my
pleasure to flag-off the construction and rehabilitation of the 30 kilometer Nassarawa
Eggon – Mada Station road project.
12. Thank you and God bless.
