A special convocation ceremony is being organised by the Nasarawa State University Keffi between the 16th and 19th December, 2009.

During the convocation, eminent citizens of the State and Country will be conferred with Honourary Doctorate Degrees for their contributions to the development of Nasarawa State and humanity in general. A statement issued by the Registrar of the institution listed those to be honoured as His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mustafa Agwai I, Emir of Lafia; Alhaji Maitama Sule, DanMasanin Kano; Chief Solomon Lar, Walin Langtang; and Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki, Wazirin Ilorin.

According to the programme released from the University, on Wednesday, 16th December, the Vice-Chancellor will address a press conference on the convocation while Saturday, 19th December has been set aside for the conferment of Honourary degrees and Launching of an Endowment Fund for the development of the University.

The Special guest at the endowment fund launching will be His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) David Mark, GCON, Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria while the Chief Launcher is Dr. B. O. Babalakin, SAN, a Lagos based businessman.

During the Convocation, it is expected the Governor of Nasarawa State, Aliyu Akwe Doma, will commission various completed projects in the University.

The convocation will also be the last for the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Baikie who has completed his tenure in the University and will be retiring at the end of December, 2009.
